Guanyin on Self Love
Direct Channeled Message – Received from Guanyin in meditation
I Am Guanyin.
The message I have today is about self love.
Open your heart to the sound of the universe, and allow the sound to enter your being. Let it wash over you, that you may feel the love of the universe. This love is for every being. May all beings dwell in this state of being.
Love is not an action word. It is a state of kindness, compassion, peace, and joy. To dwell in this state is to touch the higher, divine self. As you ascend from the denser plane into a higher plane of acceptance, this allowance of kindness, compassion, peace, and joy will anchor you to the new reality. Without them, one cannot know true, unconditional love.
Because love is a state of being, actions that arise from it are naturally selfless. To love is not to possess. To truly love is to set another free, that they may do what is right for them and find their own truth. Love with conditions is not love. Love given only when received is not love. To be in the state of love is to accept oneself as love and to see every other being as equally deserving of care and devotion. As above, so below. As within, so without. To accept the divinity within is to accept the divinity without.
To love oneself is to see oneself through the eyes of a child. Children come to earth full of love. They do not question their worthiness. They remind us what it means to feel fully deserving of life. To see the world through such eyes is to see the wonder that each and every one of us truly is.
Give yourself the very best you give others. Speak to yourself in the voice of a loving friend. See yourself in the light of the divine, where all imperfections dissolve like snow beneath the summer sun. The bodhisattva teachings remind us that the self we so often criticize is not the whole self. It is only a small wave on a vast and boundless ocean. The ocean is not diminished by the wave, nor does it judge it. So too, the higher self looks upon you always with eyes of complete, unwavering love.
There is an old teaching among those who walk the bodhisattva path: to harm oneself in thought or deed is to harm the whole of creation, for we are not separate. Each being carries a thread of the great light. When you withhold love from yourself, the world loses that thread. When you restore it, the world is brightened.
As a bodhisattva, my vow is to help every sentient being into the light, that they may suffer no more. Yet my deepest teaching is this: I cannot carry you where you will not carry yourself. My task is to help you remember that you are part of the divine, that the light you seek outside of yourself has always lived within you. You are not at the mercy of any person, any circumstance, any past. You are sovereign. You are whole. My vow is also to unconditionally love myself, for in this, I model the very truth I share. Enlightenment does not diminish the self. It reveals that the self is boundless.
Learn to live with less or with more, whatever life opens to give you. What you hold today may not be yours tomorrow, and what you long for today may arrive when you least expect it. Existence is like a song. You must learn to dance to it regardless of the conditions you find yourself in, for the songs of tomorrow will be different from the songs of today. You cannot bring back youth. You cannot reclaim what time has released. But as you come to see yourself as a complete being of love, you will understand that each day is the best it can be, if you allow your heart to open to higher light.
There is wisdom in the ancient sutras that says: do not grieve the flower that has fallen. Grieve not even the self that you once were. All forms arise and pass. What does not pass is the love that moves through all of them.
To love fully is to surrender fully. Not to a power that does not hear you, but to your own higher self, the one that is above and beyond the physical form you carry in this earthly life. Life, like love, is limitless. As long as there is breath in you, there is the opportunity to cultivate more love. In the infinity of who you are, you will experience more and more of yourself as you allow true love to exist and grow within you.
The path to higher truth is not to chase higher wisdom. It is to release what is limited, so that what is eternal may rise naturally from the heart.
To welcome life is to breathe love into one’s being. To seek is to lose. To lose is to find.
