Dipa Ma on Being the Light

This morning I opened Amy Schmidt's book on Dipa Ma. I was reading Part Three, "The Legacy Continues," when an overwhelming peace opened in my heart. My body tingled and vibrated with bliss, a sensation I have felt before. Dipa Ma had come to speak with me. Her presence was unmistakable.

She shared her wisdom, and I listened in mindfulness. I asked if I could write it down, to read later and to share with others. She said yes. This is what I received.

“Love is who you are, and who you are becoming. There is nowhere to go if you can understand the vastness of an ocean that has no bounds. Love is like that, and you can be like that. Be a shining star in your being, and your light will spread beyond your life.

Life has no end. It is beautiful. Allow peace to overcome the struggles you are facing, and you will meet the version of yourself you have been wanting to experience. All will come and go. It is of no use to plan so hard for what will come eventually.

All life affects one another. My life has transformed yours, and your life will continue to transform others long after you pass away. Embrace all the change around you and within you. Pain has no place when you encounter the light, the light that has been inside you the whole time, waiting to come forth as you settle into your being.

My child, why so sad in a world so beautiful? The life you call your own is not yours to keep. It is a light you share with the world. You have so much light to give, and by giving you do not extinguish your own.

Practice mindfulness in everything you do, in each breath you take. Be present in your joy and in your sorrow, and nothing will be wasted. You wonder about the meaning of life. Life has no independent meaning. Life exists. Life occurs. You exist. You occur. Someday your body will cease to exist, but you will never be gone. You are, and will always be, part of eternity, the one world where all love resides.

Rest in the knowing that your actions are not wasted. Your intentions are not wasted. Your dreams are not wasted. Not one drop of love can ever be wasted. As you perceive more of the light inside you, nothing will have any hold on you. You will exist only in peace, and love will flow abundantly.

There is only love. No physical barrier separates you from me. No, I never met you in this life, but I have known you. The spirit of life and becoming is strong in you. You are not one to give up, so hold strong in your beliefs. Trust that all is taken care of for your wellbeing. Use your gifts to touch many others. The ocean just needs that one drop, so do not give up on the drop you are giving.

I wish you a life of pure joy in whatever you pursue, and yes, I would be happy to be on this journey with you. It will take you beyond your wildest dreams and imagination, to a life well beyond what you think is possible for you. I send you my love. In my presence, you have understood what is possible and what is waiting for you.

See the light in yourself first, and know that it has been shining bright and guiding others. There is no need to measure your worth by anything external. You are not here to grow a tree, flourish, and bear fruit for generations to come. You are here to be, to become yourself, and the tree grows on its own. The life you seek so hard to live has always been with you. Learn to see it anew. There is nothing external to achieve, only real peace to dwell in.

I understand that you already understand these things. I want you to remember that you are not alone and have never been alone. Many beings, including myself, can see you, feel you, and know you. Just ask, and it will be given. The wisdom, the power, and the light are all there.

What is the best life to live, if not to simply be and allow what is to unfold naturally? There is no doing and non-doing, only an accumulation of actions and an observer watching things unfold in their natural way. Let go of the thinking mind to experience the fullness of eternity, the ocean waiting for you, the ocean that is already within you though you cannot see it with your eyes.

As you speak the truth and believe in the truth, you will tap into a force beyond everything you have experienced. This force is also you, the power residing in the simplest expressions of life you offer others. How you breathe, how you sit, how you laugh, how you eat are all within your control. These actions will arise and fall naturally. Observe and let go.

There is no tomorrow to worry about. Tomorrow will come with its own opportunities for becoming. The best way to prepare for tomorrow is to greet today with confidence and gratitude.
