A Letter to the Ocean

A poem on impermanence:

Waves come and go

One foot in, one foot out

Names on the sand

Laughter in the air

In the blink of an eye

All dissolves

I used to look at the moon

Far and high

It never left my side

The mind clings to the light

Like a moth to a fire

Beauty, destiny

Kingdoms rise and fall

People stay for a moment

Then they live

Deep in your heart

What is forever to men

Is wind to the sky

Why do we hold

When water escapes our hands

Why do we love

When all is mist

But while some think

A few have written on the sand
